Fire Detection & Emergency Lighting

It is now compulsory for all UK companies to carry out fire risk assessment and to comply with the Fire Precautions (Workplace) Regulations 1997 Act as amended in 1999.  And, with revisions made to the British Standard relating to the installation and maintenance of Fire Alarms (BS5839) in 2002, engineers must now be qualified to install and maintain Fire Alarms.

Fire Detection Alarm (FDA) systems are complex and there is a bewildering array of decisions that face the customer:

  • Compliance to various British Standards,
  • The Category of system – M P or L,
  • The Type of system 1, 2, or 3 and
  • The Grade of system A-F

All these terms may be meaningless to the customer but are familiar to our engineers.  Whether a customer needs a small or complex system, we have the knowledge and expertise to design, install, commission and maintain Fire Detection Alarm systems in accordance with LPS1014.

Emergency Lighting

Lighting and direction during situations when power to normal lighting fails either through fire or general power failure.

Often, Emergency Lighting is a compulsory “add-on” to FDA systems as the need for light and direction is essential for a safe and quick evacuation through a dark and hazardous building.
